Installation and Setup of a Hardware/Software Product: Test Results
For the summary report of this test, I wanted to focus on the experience of the customer end-user and to present the results in a memorable and easy-to-understand way. Working with a graphic artist, I created a series of cartoons for the report:

Unpacking:
  • Too many bags, boxes, books, and papers
  • No indication of where to start and how to proceed
  • Labels on accessories and books are not clear

Connecting Accessories:

  • Accessory cables don't intuitively map to mainframe cables
  • Tables in accessory manuals are confusing
  • Onscreen message about connection is unclear
Quantitative Results and Detailed Issues
In addition to the quick cartoon summary, I produced a set of Quantitative Results as benchmarks. We repeated this test suite three times during the development cycle to measure our improvement.

The detailed results of this test were published in a report of Usability Issues. The original report contained over 100 recommendations for improving the product.
