My next task was to perform user testing on the existing version of the product. This produced a major UI re-design; removing the "help" panel at the bottom of the window and replacing it with a task-oriented control panel. This control panel made the most important, frequently performed tasks much faster and easier. Nearly all of these re-design suggestions were incorporated in Version 2.0 of the product.
